SensorUp is currently looking for 50 volunteers throughout the Calgary region to “adopt” an air quality sensor, plug it in outside their home or office, and connect it to our IoT platform.
We’re running a city-wide IoT “starter kit” that will feed all these sensor readings into a single browser-based map of air quality in the region. The air quality map is made available to the public online, so your sensor’s readings contribute to public knowledge and a city-wide IoT demonstration project.
When you volunteer, you get:
1 – sensor and setup instructions
2 – connection to the IoT platform
3 – to contribute to city-wide knowledge about air quality, with much better spatial coverage than the current 3 sensors!
(Don’t worry, private home locations are _not_ displayed!)
The sensors are up for adoption in three batches:
Option 1: Week of September 12th, 2016, 5 sensors to be released.Option FULL!
Option 2: Week of September 19th, 2016, 5 sensors to be released.Option FULL!Option 3: For people who really want to play with the hardware, we’re holding a “make-your-own” workshop the week of October 10th, 2016! There are 30 workshop spots.
If you’d like to play around with some IoT hardware and software, please apply to volunteer, and we’ll get back to you with details and sensors 🙂
