SensorUp is pleased to announce a new partnership with Libelium. Libelium is an IoT hardware provider offering components that mix-and-match to create Io
T devices. Libelium also offers network connectivity components, so the devices can be connected to the network.
Now that Libelium has partnered with SensorUp, Libelium devices can use SensorUp’s IoT Platform. The Platform houses data from the devices, and any devices, and makes data available via our developer-friendly API. As more and more IoT solutions are built on open standards, they become part of a larger whole that can be made interoperable if needed. As more devices join the interoperable realm of IoT, potential and power of IoT grow, and become far greater than the sum of their parts.
This solves a major IoT problem that our clients often come to us with. Many approach us with fantastic ideas for IoT solutions. They can see how IoT would help their organization, and are working to make the solution a reality. This is fantastic, and we are well positioned and eager to help. But, these clients more often than not need everything in the IoT stack from device and network connectivity, to data management and application development. SensorUp enables the second two — data management and application development — and provides support and advice on the first two. But, we hadn’t previously offered hardware, or network connectivity beyond our device firmware SDKs.
Best of all, this makes it easy for IoT visionaries to build their innovations on an open standard-based platform. SensorUp’s platform is based on the OGC SensorThings API standard (as well as others). OGC, or the Open Geospatial Consortium, is an established, third-party, independent standards body responsible for maintaining open standards, including SensorThings API. SensorUp knows SensorThings API very well — our founder and CEO is the author of the standard, and some of our team members, were heavily involved in creating the standard.
Now, via the Libelium partnership, we can point to ready-made components that are easy to assemble and use, and work with our platform. This will streamline solution prototyping and testing, and ultimately full rollout within organizations. Essentially, we’ll be able to make our clients’ brilliant ideas a reality sooner, and with less friction.
